Letters to the editor illustrate public outrage over Conservative attack ads.

The following are actual letters to the editor from today's Bracebridge Examiner:

Attack ads speak volumes

Last night, I repeatedly watched the attack ads that the Conservatives are running regarding Michael Ignatieff. When there is so much going on in the country with respect to the economic downturn, I am appalled that the Conservatives would be spending the time and money attacking the Liberal candidate and not taking care of the business in this country.

I believe that Stephen Harper needs to be dealing with the real issues and the real problems that this country is facing, rather than trying to deflect to the Liberal party leader.

Attack ads not helping anyone

I find this kind of advertising disgusting. As usual, when the Conservatives see that they are losing the trust of the Canadian voter, they resort to nasty vicious attacks.

Stephen Harper should be spending his time and money on helping the people who are losing their jobs and homes during the recession, which he said would not happen.

And my personal favourite (emphasis mine):

Stop the silly games

I’m not normally a very political person, but these new attack ads put out by the Conservatives have made me so upset that I felt the need to write a letter to the editor.

Is it too much to ask that politicians focus on the important issues, like the economy and jobs rather than playing these silly political games? Tony Clement and Stephen Harper need to stop wasting time worrying about their popularity and more time actually running our country.

I voted for Tony Clement last time around, but next time I will probably just stay home.
