Blogging Tories questioning their support of Harper - Part 2

The Tory identity crisis continues:

Craig, a "site admin" writes:
The main problem I have with the actions of the CPC is the large spending increases BEFORE this crisis began. If they had kept the lid on spending during the good times then these deficits would be much smaller now.

TheMonitor1867 writes (emphasis mine):
Our party will never be able to regain its credibility on fiscal conservativism. "Conservative" is now synonymous with the massive budget deficits of Mulroney and Harper, while the Liberals can rub our faces in the days of Paul Martin surpluses.
I was one who had a lot of faith in Harper until the budget, but now... Everything the Reform Party stood for and accomplished appears to have been flushed down the toilet overnight. I've stopped donating to the Party and will now be giving my money to the NCC and CTF instead.

bsenka writes:
...Harper should have stood on principle rather than holding to power for power's sake. People argued that if we aren't in power we can't enact conservative policy. So much for that.

SFrank85 writes:
We can only hope the economy improves, so the Tories will have an excuse not to spend all the money. That is the only hope I have left in this so-called Conservative government.

optimus2861 writes:
Flaherty needs to fall on his sword. A 50% leap in the size of the deficit in just two months is outright incompetence. Maybe if the Conservatives hadn't been, you know, spending like drunken sailors the last two years we'd have had a chance to ride out this recession without having deficits this size!
Preston Manning must be rolling over in his political grave, so to speak.

Craig Smith in all likelihood is the first one. If it is, he's the co-founder of the Blogging Tories. He's not quite the media hog Stephen Taylor is.

Finally we are seeing some Tories owning up to what is really going on. Now if people have any political sense then in a month or so the polls should put the Conservatives at about 10%.
